NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jan. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Family, faith and firearms take center stage in Tobacco Rd Band’s latest radio release “Jesus & Guns” (Big Southern Entertainment).

TRB’s front man, Eric Durrance, wasn’t thinking about politics when he wrote the song for the band’s 2012 album “Where the Girls Are.” But when President Barack Obama announced his executive action enacting stricter gun control measures, Durrance decided the time had come to release the song to radio.

“People need to hear it,” he said. “This song is about the values I was raised with, along with millions of other Americans. It says to protect your family because there’s always going to be a wolf at the door. When my dad gave me his shotgun, he had that talk with me. I think we’re getting into a situation where everybody needs to have that talk.”

In “Jesus & Guns,” Durrance sings about his father giving him a Bible, a shotgun and some advice: “Live your life by the words written in red / And keep that gun locked and loaded by the bed / You’ve got those politicians up in Washington / But down here in the South we get things done, son, with Jesus and guns.”

In a review, OneStopCountry.com called “Jesus & Guns”  “…exactly what is needed on country radio today. It shows that there is an awareness and stance to be taken for what is and what isn’t right.”

Durrance, former lead singer of the acclaimed Christian rock band Big Dismal, has been focusing on country music in recent years, first touring as a solo opening act with Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean, and later co-writing Jake Owen’s hit single “Eight Second Ride.” In 2013, he released “That’s Country” featuring Colt Ford. His song “I Wanna Dance With You” was featured in the soundtrack of “The Dance,” a short film produced by ABC Entertainment as part of the network’s “Home for the Holidays” digital series in 2013. In many ways, however, “Jesus & Guns” is one of his most personal songs.

“’Jesus & Guns’ has always been a fan favorite, everywhere we play,” Durrance said. “I realize the title might seem provocative, but all I’m saying is the Bible is your spiritual gun against evil.”

“Jesus & Guns” is distributed to radio through Play MPE. The music of Tobacco Rd Band is available on iTunes, Amazon and other digital outlets. For information is available at www.TobaccoRdBand.com.
