By: Sahara Vision Productions Susannah O’Brien is already gaining a solid foot into the film industry as being among those few women who have ventured into the male dominated genre of horror films. As a female director, she is helping to change the demographics of female horror filmmakers. While most horror movies are produced from a male perspective, women comprise half the population of the sci-fi and horror movie fanbase. Encounter was picked up for distribution by Hannover House, one of the leading independent distributors in the United States. Their relationship to Sahara Vision Productions was solidified earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is already set to be released in 2016 to over 200 theaters throughout the United States. In addition, Sahara Vision Productions has a number of other projects in development. Among those is a film, also written, directed and produced by O’Brien called "The Doll". This sci-fi thriller will feature Valeria “The Human Barbie” Lukyanova. O’Brien is poised and ready to become the next iconic filmmaker. About Susannah O’Brien Susannah O’Brien, Ph.D. is the President/CEO of the feature film and television company, Sahara Vision Productions. Born and raised in Fort Thomas, KY, Susannah moved to Sarasota, FL at age 17 and has been living in Los Angeles since early 2015. O’Brien started out as a counseling psychologist before transitioning into film. Working with and analyzing the human psyche has helped her to create realistic characters and understand their motivations. At the helm of Sahara Vision Productions, O’Brien currently has a variety of projects in development focusing on the horror, drama, and romantic comedy genres, however she is partial to horror and science fiction. She has stated that Alfred Hitchcock is a big influence on her style of filmmaking. Director Producer Martin Scorsese and Jason Bloom are among her film industry favorites as well as Stephen King. She used already built oceanfront houses in Florida to run her film crew. In fact, it is the same building she used for the film Encounter. End
