Chris Valasek to Speak at 3rd Annual Automotive Cyber Security Summit

DETROIT - Jan. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Chris Valasek, hacking extraordinaire and Security Lead at Uber, will speak at the 3^rd Annual Automotive Cyber Security Summit, on March 21-23 in Detroit. He will discuss the next steps for OEM and Tier 1 companies in standardizing cyber security mitigation.

Uber hired Valasek back in August to jumpstart its driverless car project, after he remotely hacked a Jeep Cherokee mid-drive. Valasek will bring this hacking expertise to the 3^rd Annual Automotive Cyber Security Summit to provide insight on how this can be prevented.

“…I think that vehicle manufacturers now need to accept that software security is now part of their practice and it should be done from the design and architecture points and implementation points so you have the ability to update the cars as well. It needs to be accepted as a whole within the organization to make sure we have more secure cars.” said Valasek.

The 3rd Annual Automotive Cyber Security Summit will bring together automotive OEMs, Tier 1 manufacturers and solution providers alike to discuss best practices, strategies and solutions to combat cyber threats and attacks and ensure the security of vehicles inside and out. Technology experts, vendors, and speakers on site will be offering security solutions.

With increased connectivity and the rise in autonomous automobiles, cyber threats are now more prevalent, exposing the vehicle to multiple dangers and risks. The need to protect and secure these vulnerable entry points is a major priority for automotive manufacturers to ensure the safety of their drivers and passengers.
