Winter Blues? Carry Out Cafe Brightens The View with Artwork by Sandra Chase Morrissey

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Jan. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Carry Out Cafe & Catering in Newburyport, MA, is hosting an exhibition of paintings by Sandra Chase Morrissey called “Bright Blues Erase Winter Blues." The color blue dominates each painting in this collection and is designed to enlighten the season’s muted landscape with cheerful, bright, blue colors. The artwork is on display in the gallery now through February. A free Artist Reception will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Carry Out Cafe. The public is invited to meet the artist, see the exhibition, and enjoy appetizers and beverages.

Ms. Morrissey grew up in Marblehead, MA, and currently lives and creates artwork in Amesbury, MA. She is a self-taught artist who began her art career with a unique abstract style, where she created energetic landscapes which could almost be felt, as well as seen. “I confidently declared myself an Artist in 2013, after I became unreserved with my painting technique and loved the result. I was living in Minnesota at the time, away from family and friends, so I painted a subject close to my New England heart -- the ocean. It was exhilarating!”

“During the cold winter months of January and February, we are happy to brighten our walls with Sandra’s dynamic artwork,” said Paula Simpson, owner of Carry Out Cafe & Catering. “Her seacoast and lake shore paintings truly incorporate her energetic personality with the fluid brushstrokes.  Her birch trees combine movement with stillness, capturing the beauty of a winter walk in the woods.”

According to Ms. Morrissey, her mission is to share colorful thoughts through art.  Her eye-catching acrylics on canvas reflect her love of color and highlight her atypical painting technique. “In every piece, I want the viewer to experience my Art and imagine the paint adventure I have created. With each day, each painting, I push myself to explore new color combinations, new subject matter, and new painting styles. My satisfaction with one painting creates ideas for the next painting. I am constantly learning and growing in Art.”

She participates in exhibits, art societies, and art festivals, and her work has been shown at the Newburyport Art Association, The Marblehead Art Association, The New Hampshire Art Association and other regional venues including Remax on the River, The Provident Bank, Newburyport Brewing Company, Crave Restaurant, and the Blue Wave Art Gallery.  Her original work is available for sale at Carry Out Cafe or can be viewed at  www.sandrachaseartist.com.
