Orden - Desorden" will open January 16th 2016 and run through January 31st 2016
As part of the excitement and to entice people to get outside, in the four weeks leading up to the show Joshua and Steel Door Gallery will be placing an original Hibbard painting secretly around the downtown Portland area. Steel Door Gallery will be using its Facebook and Twitter pages to guide potential owners to Hibbard's lost paintings through a series of clues. The first person to claim the painting gets to keep it. Hibbard began painting as a creative outlet for dealing with the trials and tribulations resulting from childhood. By the age of twelve he was doing live realistic portraits at community events. By sixteen he was commissioning impressive ultra-realistic portraits for the staff of his high school. During his time in the U.S. Navy he was introduced to tattooing as an art form. After years of success in this incredibly technical field, Hibbard is breaking free from the the traditional constraints of realism. His abstract work allows him to travel a new path of discovery. “Orden - Desorden” is the first exhibition of Hibbard’s abstract work. “I am honored to be showing Joshua's new work,” stated Steel Door Gallery owner Patrick Zahn. “Part of the gallery's mission is to give art collectors the opportunity to engage with emerging artists early in their career, providing a unique opportunity for investment. The exhibition opens January 16th and runs through January 31, 2016. A reception for both the artists and the public will be held Saturday January 16 at 6:00pm Pacific Time. Joshua Hibbard will be present and available to discuss his work. 100 limited-edition signed prints will be given to the first 100 people to enter the exhibition on opening night. Additionally, Steel Door Gallery and Hibbard have agreed to donate twenty percent to of all sales generated during the two week exhibition to New Avenues For Youth. Refreshments will be served. End
