Follow on Google News | Babies.co.nz give to Mums In NeedBy: Babies.co.nz Babies.co.nz, an online baby products retailer noticed a Facebook community group called ‘Mums in Need NZ.’ The group has over 3,000 members who seek and offer assistance without judgement or criticism. 54 packets of nappies, 40 packets of wipes, five travel cots, 10 capsules and three strollers have been delivered to the doorsteps of families just in time for Christmas. Mothers on the ‘Mums in Need NZ’ page vary in ethnicity, age, occupation and needs. They come from all parts of the country and all have their own unique story. The ‘Mums in Need NZ’ page is monitored and administrated by Amber Carson and Sue Larsen. It is a place where mothers can turn to for help, advice and friendship says Ms Larsen. “At some stages families struggle to provide basic life necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Members can ask for help without any judgement, it is a safe environment where mothers help mothers,” she says. Babies.co.nz worked with the administrators to select which baby items would be donated and who would receive the gifts. “It is similar to a pay it forward page, mothers who ask for help often provide assistance to another mother in need,” says Miss Carson. The 2014 New Zealand Child Poverty Monitor survey showed that 24 per cent of dependent children live in hardship after housing costs, with over 10 per cent living in severe poverty. Babies.co.nz are in awe of the selflessness and support that the members have shown towards each other. “We want these items to feel like a true gift, wrapped and delivered to their doorstep, not a charity hand out,” says Mr Kubaisy. www.babies.co.nz have been online specialists in baby products since 1998. They aim to make life easier for parents by offering the best brands and best choices, at the best prices. End
