PODS® Celebrates Success of Local Toy Drive Benefiting Toys for Tots

LOS ANGELES - Dec. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- For two Saturdays in December, PODS donated containers to four Toys “R” Us^® locations in an effort to garner more toys for the U.S. Marines, Toys for Tots program.

PODS and Toys “R” Us collected hundreds of toy donations that will bring smiles and joy to children who would otherwise not receive anything this holiday season.  Local families came out and filled the PODS containers with hundreds of toys such as coloring books, baby dolls, board games, monster trucks, stuffed animals, playdough and even bicycles. PODS then helped transport these donations to local Marine facilities, which will be distributed to children in time for Christmas.

PODS Chief Marketing Officer, George Spowart says, “PODS really enjoyed being a part of this wonderful toy drive. I’d like to thank the local radio stations, all of the onsite Marines and Toys “R” Us for a successful run. It was a pleasure working with everyone, and it’s always an honor to support Toys for Tots in our local communities. We are grateful to be able to help drive toy donations every year.”

PODS has worked with the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots since 2009. PODS provides containers to help move, store and distribute the toys for children in need that are collected during holiday toy drives. In 2014, PODS provided an estimated $380,000 worth of services and the use of 516 containers to the U.S. Marine Corps toy drive across the United States.

Since its inception 68 years ago, the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program has distributed more than 494 million toys to 230 million less fortunate children across the United States who might not otherwise receive anything during the holiday season.
