Healy Consultants finds that boosting economy is a top priority for Anguilla’s new Government

Dec. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- The tiny British overseas territory Anguilla recently welcomed a new Government following elections in April 2015. Victor Banks sworn in as the new Chief Minister.

The new head of the Government said stimulating the Anguillan economy will be a key priority.

"We have been very welcoming to investments. We've always had a very professional approach to dealing with people who come to our country and invest in our country. We always try to find ways and means to incentivize persons who are involved in the job-creating sector – the private sector which includes local and foreign. We're also looking at diversifying the economy, moving away from just focus on tourism, and diversifying within the tourism economy as well as other aspects of our country that still have been underexploited,” Banks said.

The new Government is set to focus on the industries which will boost the economy such as offshore banking which is another money-earner. Anguilla, which does not levy personal or corporate income tax, was removed in 2002 from an international list of territories said to be uncooperative in the fight against money-laundering.

Anguilla signed an agreement in May 2013 on sharing tax information with Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain as part of an international drive against tax evasion.

Investors are now more eager to venture into business in Anguilla as prospects will be lucrative over the coming years.
