David Steinfeld, Palm Beach Lawyer obtains $1 Million verdict for client in online defamation case
Bargain Bob’s Carpets sued Mr. Jack Stein of West Palm Beach for online slander/defamation and interference with its business relations. In late November 2013, Bargain Bob's uncovered a defamatory and slanderous statement placed by Mr. Stein in the Riverwalk Talk, an HOA community magazine. That statement mirrored an earlier defamatory statement posted on the website RipoffReport.com. Although Jack Stein denied responsibility for publishing both statements, a Palm Beach County jury found that the evidence clearly proved that he made both statements to intentionally harm Bargain Bob's Carpets and to interfere with its business with customers.
The jury awarded Bargain Bob's $200,000 in nominal damages and $800,000 in punitive damages. Punitive damages are monies designed to punish Jack Stein for his conduct. Naturally, the facts of this case are unique to the case and the $1 Million jury verdict obtained in this case is not necessarily representative of all results obtained by David Steinfeld, Esq. or the Law Office of David Steinfeld. Because the facts of every case are different, the Law Office of David Steinfeld carefully and thoroughly evaluates and handles each client’s case on its own merits.
