Germans Displeased With Insufficient US Help in Migrant Crisis

WASHINGTON - Dec. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, December 22, Sputnik Press - Office – According to a Sputnik.Polls survey conducted by the UK research company Populus for the Sputnik international information agency and radio, 71% of Germans consider the US offer to accept 100,000 refugees a year by 2017 insufficient, whereas in the US, on the contrary, 85% of those polled are confident that the help is sufficient or even more than the US government should have offered.

Answering the question “Do you  think the US proposal to accept 100,000 refugees by 2017 is…” 54% of respondents in Eastern Europe and 45% in Western Europe said that the assistance offered to Europe to deal with the migrant crisis is insufficient. Among respondents in Hungary, Bulgaria and Poland, 63%, 62% and 47%, respectively, are also unhappy with the US offer of help.

The highest percentages of respondents who voiced satisfaction with the level of US support were found in France, 54%; with 51% in the United Kingdom and 46% in the Czech Republic.

The survey was conducted by the British company Populus in October 2015. In all, 8,000 respondents took part in the survey with 1,000 from each of the following countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland.  People from various regions and of different ages and sexes took part in the poll. The confidence interval per country is +/-3.1 percent, with a confidence coefficient of 95%.
