AAW Awards Scholarships to Arrowmont and Campbell Schools

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Dec. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- The American Association of Woodturners (AAW) is pleased to announce that it has awarded twenty-eight scholarships to members of the AAW to attend Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the John C. Campbell Folk School in 2016. The AAW is delighted to congratulate the following twenty-eight scholarship recipients:

Commenting on the scholarship awards, Phil McDonald, executive director of the AAW stated, “Rewarding and enriching educational experiences lie ahead for each of the scholarship recipients.” He continued, “The AAW is grateful to the Arrowmont and Campbell schools for their financial support of this initiative. We also want to thank all of the participating chapters for their overwhelmingly positive expressions of support for AAW’s educational mission.”

Scholarship award winners were selected through a random drawing of all eligible nominees. To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, candidates must be AAW members and must have been nominated by a process approved by their AAW chapter. A total of 69 chapters participated, resulting in the nomination of 103 AAW members.

The AAW Board of Directors approved a program to provide woodturning school scholarships to members of the AAW in 2013. With the continued support and funding from the AAW Endowment Trust Fund, and with matching contributions made by the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the John C. Campbell Folk School, the scholarship awards were made possible again in 2015.
