FANLING, China - Dec. 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Mexico Publishes Resolution Affecting Textile Labels

A resolution from the Ministry of Economy published in the official journal on September 3rd, 2015 has amended the official Mexican standard for the labeling of apparel and textile articles, NOM-004-SCFI-2006 (amended in 2011) [1]. This new amendment covers subsections 2, 4.1.1 and 4.3.1 which were updated to include reference to the new standards for generic names of fibers NMX-A-2076-INNTEX-2013 and NMX-A-6938-INNTEX-2013, which replaced NMX-A-099-INNTEX-2007.

Implementation Postponed for Apparel and Textile Label Changes

Standards NMX-A-2076-INNTEX-2013 and NMX-A-6938-INNTEX-2013, became effective on September 9th, 2015 [2].  However, the same resolution from the Ministry of Economy has postponed the implementation of section 2.2 of NMX-A-2076-INNTEX-2013 until June 2016. Section 2.2 of NMX-A-2076-INNTEX-2013,”Generic names of chemical fibers” requires that the generic name of man-made fibers is written without capital letters.

The effective date of this requirement has been postponed in order to give more time to manufacturers, importers and retailers to implement the necessary changes to meet the new labeling requirements and to exhaust the existing inventories with products labeled according to the previous standards.
