Prominent Divorce Attorney Konrad Trope Cautions Against Wide Use Of Pre-nups

LOS ANGELES - Dec. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Prominent Los Angeles family law attorney Konrad Trope, a second generation family law attorney in Los Angeles with 25 years of civil litigation and divorce experience believes that many people mistake the need for pre-nuptial agreements. A prenuptial agreement ("prenup" for short) is a written contract created by two people before they are married. A prenup typically lists all of the property each person owns (as well as any debts) and specifies what each person's property rights will be after the marriage.

“The vast majority of marriages don’t need a pre-nuptial agreement” said Trope. “Such agreements are best employed where there is a huge disparity in economic wealth or potential earning between spouses. For example a professional athletes or A-list actors are more likely to genuinely need a prenuptial agreement than a marriage between a legal assistant and a set designer.”

Trope believes that pre-nuptial agreements, which become very popular over the last decade are vastly over-used. “Signing a prenuptial agreement should be given a great deal of deliberation before going forward.”
