Four questions Auto Transporters should ask their customers

PORTLAND, Ore. - Dec. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Communication is always key – especially when deciding if a shipment is right for you.

We ask shipping customers several important questions to help you understand their shipments. Is the vehicle operable? Has it been modified? What are the pickup and delivery location types?

Our goal is that by asking these questions, and by providing photo and description fields, we are directing your shipping customers to give you all of the info necessary for you to make informed bids.

As we all know in this business, “stuff” does happen, and the customer doesn’t always provide the best information. Therefore, we’ve armed YOU, the carrier, with a handy Ask A Question feature, which allows you to get the information you need before booking a load. Use this feature to avoid surprises leading to cancellations and dry runs!

Are there any pickup and delivery hours I should consider?

You don’t want to spend additional time waiting to pick up or deliver a shipment because it’s not accessible when you arrive. For example, If you’re picking up a vehicle from a business or third party seller who may work during the day, you’ll need to plan ahead to arrive at a time when both of you are available. Alternatively, if your shipping customer isn’t meeting you at delivery, make sure they’ve made alternate arrangements for someone to meet you.

2. Have all related sales transactions been completed?
Some customers may be in the process of bidding on a vehicle on eBay, or buying from a private seller. In scenarios like this, it’s important to determine if they have completed these transactions and are ready to ship, or if they are trying to understand the total cost of ownership (have made the listing to get a shipping estimate).

3. Are you confident in the vehicle’s condition?
If the customer is sending you to pick up a vehicle they have purchased but not yet seen in person, it’s important to clarify the status of the vehicle (has keys, is street legal, whether or not it runs) and any modifications to it that may affect the way it’s transported.

4. Can you confirm the type of pickup and delivery location?
You may need to establish an alternate pickup or delivery location if one or both don’t work with your trailer clearance or size.

Make informed decisions and optimize your time on the road. We are here to help you save time, because we know that time is money.
