Retail Revival - 30% retail sales boost expected this Boxing Day

SYDNEY - Dec. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- 2015 has been a rather difficult year for Australian retailers but there is some last minute relief on its way according to most retail experts and a latest report based on the study of a number of factors.

This year’s Boxing Day sale frenzy is tipped to increase retail sales by 30% or more, according to Holiday Sales Index report released by TopBargains.com.au, an Australian website that has been tracking boxing day sale activity for last seven years.

“Major difference this year is that a lot more stores will be open on Boxing Day this year and bigger retailers such as Myer, David Jones and Target will be open for extended hours. Traditionally, a very limited number of stores in the CBD areas opened for the sales but this year will spread the sales to the suburbs and where the bulk of the shoppers are,” said Nauman Khan, digital analytics expert at TopBargains.

“NSW will see the biggest surge and there is a chance that boxing day sales in NSW surpass Victoria for the first time ever.”

“We take other factors into consideration while compiling Holiday Sales Index such as early interest in Boxing day sales measured by percentage of ‘boxing day’ related searches in first two weeks of December or general online sale activity in the month of November.”

These numbers are also in line with strong optimism expressed by Australian Retail Association. The representative body of Australian retailers is confident that this year’s boxing day shopping frenzy will be highest on record in Australia.

The other major highlights of the report include an expected surge in Australian online sales by UK based online retailers such as Asos and Boohoo, general service improvements by delivery companies and a welcoming attitude by state governments towards boxing day sales.
