LITCHFIELD, Conn. - Dec. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Established in 1972, the Litchfield Montessori School’s curriculum and approach to lifelong learning reflects the commitment and vision of Dr. Maria Montessori.  Dr. Montessori believed that the goals of the educational process should be to cultivate self-motivation, the child’s natural desire to learn, and to encourage critical and creative thinking. Located on a four-acre campus in the Northfield, the school serves children 15 months through 6th grade.

The exhibit has been curated by LMS teacher Liliana Kleid. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Kleid combines Art, Spanish and Music in her curriculum at LMS. Her students, ages 5 to 12, benefit from her background as an accomplished artist who works in a variety of mediums.

This year’s theme is “Recycle by Making Art.” The students’ work will include collages and sculptures using cardboard, old magazines, newspapers, paper cups and fiber. The goal in working with these materials is to increase awareness of the world’s solid waste problem and to encourage recycling. Techniques used include drawing, painting, and coloring.
