Veteran Phil Davidson's Book Nominated for Global Ebook Award Dreamer shows Faith In Adversity

PEARLAND, Texas - Dec. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- For Attorney Phillip Davidson, life seems normal; a day of legal wrangling in court, coming home to a family, playing with grandchildren and overall enjoying a good life. Just below the surface is the other Phillip Davidson, a former Vietnam War veteran, Kit Carson Scout, a man skilled in ambush through a secret government endorsed program during the Vietnamese conflict and a man that has lived with post traumatic stress. Almost sounds like the spy stories within a James Bond plot, but this is real life. Davidson was on President Reagan’s Vietnam Veterans Leadership Council. PTSD was one of the main issues that the council dealt with. Davidson feels “Great” that his book  Dreamer was selected for participation in the Global E-Book Awards.

The Global Ebook Awards honor and bring attention to the future of book publishing: Ebooks. Now in its sixth year, the Awards are in 72 specific categories. They are open to all publishers large and small so that a winner is the best in its category not just the best of small or regionally-published ebooks. Most ebooks are also available as printed books as well.

In Davidson’s military book, Dreamer, he opens the door to the world of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome in a very unique way. Allowing readers to get a glimpse of the traumatic nightmares that veterans often suffer as a result of their military engagements. In light of recent shooting and terrorist crisis around the world, his writings are very significant.  He also touches on torture from being held as prisoners of war. At times these events are so severe that many families do not survive.  According to the Dreamer author, nightmares can often take on a physical aspect and endanger loved ones. Because of the severity of PTSD, medical and insurance boards in many states are now classifying the disorder as an illness to bring help and relief to suffering families. “A person who suffers from PTSD can never be healed. They simply have to learn to cope with it.” says Davidson.

He believes that people should take full advantage of the resources available for help. Like the book Gated Grief, by former Huffington Post journalist, Lelia Levinson, opening dialog on the subject can be the beginning of restoration. This based on reality book, not only lifts the veil on PTSD, but shows the unique bonds formed between those in the military, and encourages the reader that maintaining core values and spiritual beliefs are anchors to survival. Davidson hopes that the intrigue in Dreamer will open the door for much needed conversation.
