Holiday Toys for Troops to once again benefit children of soliders throughout Plymouth and Bristol County

BROCKTON, MA, ISSUED DECEMBER 11, 2015…The 8th annual “Holiday Toys for Troops” event gets underway this weekend, Sunday December 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shaw’s Center in Brockton, sponsored by the Plymouth Bristol Central Labor Council.

The main focus of the event, this year and every year, is collecting toys to be distributed to the children of soldiers in the 26 towns that the Plymouth Bristol Labor Council serves.

In addition to a number of local and state officials, children of soldiers will be on hand to rally support for our Troops. State Senator Marc Pacheco and State Treasurer Deb Golberg will host the event.

Jim Pinkham, of UWUA Local 369 and the Plymouth Bristol Central Labor Council, said, “This year looks to be our best year yet for collecting toys. We can sometimes forget the extreme hardship that is placed on families of those soldiers who protect us each and every day. Our toy collection effort will help bring a little cheer into those families, and we are urging everyone who hears of this event to bring an unwrapped toy and do their part.”

This  weekend’s event will include a dinner, entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus, but the main focus is collecting toys to be distributed the the children of soldiers, in the 26 towns that the Plymouth Bristol Central Labor Council serves. The Center will remain open after Sunday’s event, for the purpose of collecting toys, on Monday and Tuesday.
