10th Boston Turkish Documentary and Short Film Competition Results Announced
BOSTON - Dec. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Boston Turkish Documentary and Short Film Competition, the first documentary and short film competition of Turkish films in North America which is celebrating its 10th year, has announced the 2015 award recipients.

A total of 41 films, documentaries and shorts, were screened in this year’s competition screening program. In addition to the awards by the competition jury the audience also voted for their favorites for the audience awards. The jury members are Peter Keough, Film Critic, Jeremy Rossen, Curator of the Harvard Film Archive, and Carter Long, Film Program Curator of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

The award recipient films are as follows;

Best Short Film Award: “Red Light” (Kırmızı Işık – Fransa Çok Güzel), directed by Yasemin Akıncı, and “The Next One” (Sıradaki), directed by Gündüz Sevdi.

Best Documentary Award: “Migration” (Koçer), directed by Ramazan Dinler.

Best Short Film Audience Award: “The Well” (Kuyu), directed by Selman Nacar.

Best Documentary Audience Award: “Zülfü Livaneli: A Voice Between East and West” (Zülfü Livaneli: Doğu ile Batı Arasında Bir  Ses), directed by Orhan Çalışır, Cengiz Kültür and Dirk Meissner.

Once again this year special mentions were announced in the competition.

Special Mentions in the Short Film Category are:

“Adem Başaran”, directed by Orhan İnce

“The Mediterranean” (Akdenizli), directed by Seçkin Yalın and Yiğit Pehlivan

“Circle” (Daire), directed by Özgür Can Alkan

“Four Seasons” (Dört Mevsim), directed by Sedat Mirdesli

“Mother Virgin No More” (Gri Bölge), directed by Derya Durmaz

“The Jungle” (Orman), directed by Onur Saylak and Doğu Akal

“The Teacup”, directed by Elif Boyacıoğlu

Special Mentions in the Documentary Category are:

“A Better Life” (Daha Güzel Bir Hayat), directed by Pınar Nadide Okan

“Hey Neighbor!” (Komşu Komşu Huuu!), directed by Bingöl Elmas

“The Inn” (Han), directed by Çağrı İşbilir

“Little Black Fish” (Küçük Kara Balıklar), directed by Cem Terbiyeli, Serpil Güler, Önder İnce, Ezel Akay, Haluk Ünal

“Non-Space: Collapse of the City as Commodity” (Lamekan: Metalaşan Kentin Çöküşü), directed by İmre Azem

“A Shadow in Sarıkamış: Wolf” (Sarıkamış’ta Bir Gölge: Kurt), directed by Oğuz Özdemir

“The Sound of Istanbul” (İstanbul’un Sesi), directed by Gökhan Öcal

It is also announced that submissions for next year’s competition will begin on February 1, 2016.

The competition is organized by the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England (TACS-NE) in Boston in co-operation with Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in New York, General Directorate of Cinema of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
