Pinkerton's First Female Detective Inspires New Series of Novels

ST. LOUIS - Dec. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- On the morning of August 23, 1856, a slender, brown-haired, widow stepped into Allan Pinkerton’s office and changed the course of history.  Kate Warne had come to the famed detective, not seeking secretarial work, but in response to an ad for detectives to join his agency.  Pinkerton balked at her request, but with determined eloquence, Warne argued her point and won the chance to become a “Pink”.

During a twelve year tenure as the “Supervisor of Women Agents” for The Pinkerton National Detective Agency, Kate Warne became one of Pinkerton’s most trusted agents, blazing a trail for women in the field of law enforcement where they would not officially be accepted until 1891.

In 2015, a new series of novels inspired by Mrs. Warne’s remarkable career features the compelling story of her fictionalized successor, Mrs. Hannah Webster, and a new female operative in her charge, Miss Amanda Brown. Active in the Female Detective’s Bureau during the 1880s, Hannah and Amanda are complete opposites who soon find their differences cause for serious contention as Elizabeth Miller’s Pinkerton Detective Series unfolds.

Following the traumatic events of President James Garfield’s assassination in the series first book, A Pink Lady, Hannah’s dismissal from the agency sparks a deadly feud between Amanda and her that leads them to continue their struggle below the border in the second and latest installment of the series, Pink Revenge. Sent to sort out a labor dispute for the Mexican Southern Railroad, Amanda is unaware Hannah has designs on exploiting Mexican Southern’s new spur line with a vengeful investment swindle. But their separate interests rapidly converge when retribution for an old betrayal disrupts their private war.

Rich with historic detail and unexpected plot twists, Pink Revenge and A Pink Lady are an intriguing beginning to a series that offers a glimpse into the lives of Allan Pinkerton’s female operatives. Though The Pinkerton Detective Series utilizes details from some of Kate Warne’s actual cases to frame the narrative, each novel is entirely original, building an engaging body of conflicts, relationships and themes for a thoroughly satisfying read.

The next book in The Pinkerton Detective Series is due late in 2016. To find out more about A Pink Lady, Pink Revenge or The Pinkerton Detective Series visit the author’s website at http://www.emillerbooks.com or look for these novels on http://www.amazon.com
