The adorable short film, starring Melissa Kamel and Austin Kiehle, was written and directed by first-time filmmaker Brock Bailey, then a film student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. This student film was produced under the guidance of Ralph Michael Brekan of Brekan Bros. Motion Pictures. Bailey hired Brekan to shoot and edit his short film based on the feature film, Dear John. Bailey's intention was to redeem the movie with Christian values of abstinence and faith. Bailey had rehearsed the film with Kamel and Kiehle, but to accomplish his assignment at a high standard, he needed a professional mentor to guide him through the filmmaking process. Bailey placed an ad on a local job board and Brekan, a twenty year veteran of the motion picture, responded. Brekan, who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters including "Three Kings" and "The Kingdom" coordinated the production and providing camera gear and cinematography for the project. He also provided editorial services at Bailey's direction. Neither Brekan nor Bailey, expected the film to receive such a huge response. "I'm actually kind of shocked." Says Brekan, who's own films have won awards for experimentation and artistry. "This film is simple, pure and straightforward, so unlike the convoluted nightmares I typically produce. Working with Brock was really refreshing." At one million views and a 80% positive aproval rating, it's clear that the film "True Love Waits" is a wild success, spreading wholesome values in an otherwise sex-saturated marketplace. End
