How to stand out from 985,000 other people

Dec. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- For many people, finishing university can be very daunting. You are young, broke, have no work experience and you are competing against 985,000 other students, to break into the work force.

For Nick Kavo though, he has received a break- a $15,000 break!

He has just been named the Boost Mobile Ultimate Intern for 2015 and he has won $15,000 towards his university fees.

Boost Mobile introduced their Ultimate Internship this year to give students an incredible learning experience. Boost wanted to learn from students to actually understand how their target market lived.

The Ultimate Internship was open to all students throughout Australia. Applicants were received from all over the country and six students were chosen to have a 12 month internship.

“We definitely didn’t want our internship to be standard. We wanted our interns to embrace having fun and we provided them with the vehicle to do this. We gave them tickets to music gigs, amusement parks and ski trips and then we provided all interns with the platform to create awareness and to co-create content.

“We wanted our interns to learn about the business world which made sense to them and made them feel comfortable, as this is how we believe best results are achieved”, said Ian Blackhall, Chief Marketing Officer, Boost Mobile.

Reports are predicting that 40% of the total workforce will be millenials, in the next five years. The key characteristics of this generation is that they are risk takers and very entrepreneurial and Boost Mobile want to harness this way of thinking to understand exactly what new skills they are bringing to the workforce.

The Ultimate Internship has allowed students to develop skills in events management, digital media, new business development, sales and marketing; all in a unique and relaxed environment.

“Our six interns can take all the skills they have acquired over the last 12 months and it will make them stand out when they are competing for jobs”, concluded Blackhall.

First year uni student Nick Kavo was chosen to win the ultimate prize due to his innovation. Nick took an all expenses paid 10 day road trip from Adelaide to Darwin. Apart from riding on camels and cage diving with crocodiles, he created engaging social content. He then produced a four episode series of himself, pretending to be the Bachelor, taking girls on ‘cheap dates’, again creating digital content to be laughed at and also shared.

“I’ve had experiences I could never have imagined this year and learnt so much about the business world and engaging with customers. This internship is amazing. I haven’t even felt like I’ve been working and now I have won $15k towards my uni fees!

“I’d definitely recommend any student apply for the 2016 Ultimate Internship. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. The best part is I have 12 months of learning already on my resume before I go out into the real world”, said Nick Kavo, Boost Mobile Ultimate Internship winner.

The 2016 Ultimate Internship is open to any student, Australia wide who is studying. If students are interested in applying for the 2016 Ultimate Internship they can apply at www.boost.com.au/ultimateintern
