Cooking For Halflings & Monsters: 111 Comfy, Cozy Recipes for Fantasy-Loving Souls by Astrid Winegar

Oloris Publishing announces the release of a new cookbook for summer 2016
Dec. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Cooking for Haflings and Monsters is as delightful to read as it is to consume! The recipes range in complexity from the basic fare of a hafling’s “Hideaway Sandwich” to the more accomplished dish of “Stout & Sturdy Chicken & Dumplings.” All of the recipes are Winegar’s own creations. Although care was taken to consult historical cookbooks, the recipes are meant for the modern cook. As Winegar states in the introduction, “I have a stove, a refrigerator, and a KitchenAid stand mixer and I intend to use them.”

The primary goal is to bring a warm atmosphere of community and comfort to the kitchen, regardless of the number of guests being served (most recipes can easily be increased or decreased accordingly—and many are excellent as leftovers, or can be frozen for later consumption). It is a cookbook filled with recipes that Winegar imagines the characters of Middle-earth would like to eat “… which means people in general—for don't we see ourselves in the monsters, heroes, and dwarves of the fantasy world, and isn't that why the stories resonate so well with so many of us?”

Substitution suggestions for out-of-season or regionally challenged ingredients expands the boundaries of the recipes. Tips and hints are sprinkled throughout, as well as, a chart included in the back of the book to aid cooks of varying skill. To find out more about this collection of delightful offerings, go to
