UPSL Reviewing Post Game Playoff Altercation for La Maquina vs. San Nicholas Quarterfinal Match

TORRANCE, Calif. - Dec. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- December 7, 2015 – Torrance, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (www.upslsoccer.com) today announced that due to a post-game fan-player altercation that occurred at San Nicholas vs La Maquina playoff match at the Lake Forest Sports Complex in Lake Forest, Ca on Saturday night, the UPSL will perform a thorough and full review of the incident and announce its findings once the review is complete. The league is currently in the process of reviewing game video, referee reports, fan and player interviews and additional information being provided by the appropriate parties.

UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara stated,“It’s too bad that this great match up between two competitive teams could not be decided on the field. In situations like this, it’s always a few bad apples that have to ruin for everyone. Our focus as a league, aside from running a competitive league, is maintaining the integrity of the league and maintaining the safety of our players, coaches and fans.  Unfortunately this weekend, we had two very good teams in a competitive quarterfinal playoff match that could not seem to control tempers after the 3-2 match concluded, with San Nicholas winning in regulation. It’s a shame because the UPSL and its team members take pride in our quality competitive play, with a no tolerance policy on player or fan violence. We take this matter very serious and will take the appropriate actions necessary once we have concluded our review of the entire incident.”

The UPSL now consists of five conferences spanning across Southern and Central California, Arizona and Nevada; which include Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, Santa Clarita Valley, Kern County and the Inland Empire.
