WASHINGTON - Dec. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- The Trinity Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra for its third consecutive presentation will perform the Advent portion of "Messiah" by George Frideric Handel on Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m.  This presentation has become a holiday tradition at Trinity Church and is customarily known as The Annual Advent Choral Concert.  Joining the choir will be soloists:  soprano Lisa Edwards-Burrs, mezzo-soprano Bridgette Cooper, tenor Darnell T. Roulhac and baritone Chase Peak. Guest organist for concert will be Edmond Charles.

Under the direction of conductor Patrick D. McCoy, the Trinity Chancel Choir has maintained a tradition of the performance of major works, including the "Requiem" by Gabriel Faure', "The Seven Last Words of Christ" by Theodore Dubois and Handel's "Messiah."

Composed in 1741, " Messiah" was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. Since then, the holiday favorite gained considerable popularity, becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in the sacred repertoire.

The performance of Messiah at Trinity Church, DC is free and open to the public.  For more information, please contact the church at office@trinitychurchdc.org or by phone at (202) 726-7036.
