Hip-Hop Pioneer Christopher “Play” Martin to Speak at SUNY-Oneonta

NEW YORK - Nov. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, N.Y – Hip-Hop pioneer Christopher “Play” Martin, of the iconic duo Kid ‘n Play (House Party franchise, Class Act), will address students at the State University of New York-Oneonta (SUNY-Oneonta) in the Hunt College Union Ballroom on Nov. 30 at 9 p.m.

The event titled, “Hip Hop History with Christopher ‘Play’ Martin” is an exclusive presentation for SUNY students by Martin’s multimedia news and feature company Brand-Newz. Martin will provide insight on the Hip Hop legacy and offer pearls of wisdom on career success in the entertainment and media industries. Students will also learn about professional development opportunities offered by Brand-Newz during a special meet and greet session. The presentation will include a Q&A session with the students and Martin, an award-winning documentarian and executive producer.

Martin explained that the event is a part of Brand-Newz’s ongoing commitment to working with young people and providing them with the inspiration and tools needed to become positive contributors to two of the world’s most powerful influences – media and entertainment. The Brand-Newz mantra is “Where Hip Hop Has a New Direction.”

“At Brand-Newz we are focused on using the spirit and influence of the Hip-Hop culture to inspire balance in the way we choose and receive our news and information,” Martin said. “We exist because of the lack of balance in the news and our mission is to fill this void with positive energy and relevant information through the talents of young, aspiring journalists and seasoned industry professionals.”

Martin’s visit to SUNY-Oneonta is a part of an ongoing speaking series designed to inspire and empower young people. Recent speaking engagements include Rice University (Houston, Texas), Allen University (Columbia, S.C.), Full Sail University (Winter Park, Fla.), Crossroad Academy Charter School (Quincy Fla.), South Shore International College Preparatory High School (Chicago, Ill.), Shaw University (Raleigh, N.C.), and Fayetteville State University (Fayetteville, N.C.).
