McScrooge’s To Sell Rare Cigar Benefitting St. Jude

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Nov. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- As part of its Black Friday specials, McScrooge’s Wine & Spirits is offering one of Gurkha’s His Majesty’s Reserve cigars and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Gurkha HMR is one of the rarest cigars in the world, and is often said to be the most expensive. One cigar retails for $1,250.00, and McScrooge’s will sell its cigar for $1,000.00. The cigar was purchased by McScrooge’s general manager, Brent Barnett, at a recent auction benefitting St. Jude.

“I am thrilled our organization can support such a worthy cause, and this particular item has given us that opportunity twice,” Barnett said. “Only 75 boxes of HMR were available this year, so this is certainly a rare find for anyone who enjoys a great cigar.”

The HMR blend is comprised of a 15 year Connecticut Maduro wrapper with twelve year old Dominican binder and filler that’s aged with one bottle of Louis XIII Cognac. More information about the cigar can be found at

In addition to the cigar, McScrooge’s has several other rare items available for purchase beginning on Black Friday, including Pappy Van Winkle’s bourbon, Buffalo Trace’s Antique Collection, Goose Island’s Bourbon County beer line and a Blue Chair Bay guitar and Adirondack-style chair, both autographed by Kenny Chesney. Customers have come to expect such special offerings from McScrooge’s on Black Friday, and in previous years, more than 150 people were in-line hours before the store opened for the day. This year, McScrooge’s will open at 8 a.m., and, as in previous years, all special items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
