st annual meeting at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. SFO Secretary General Professor Christophe Baudouin hosted the joint symposium of the prestigious American Ophthalmological Society (AOS) and the SFO that featured lectures by the immediate past Executive Vice President of the AOS and Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Ophthalmology Thomas J. Liesegang, MD, and Richard L. Abbott of the UC San Francisco.
“I was very honored to have been selected to once again speak at the French Ophthalmology Society’s annual meeting. I am so grateful to the society for allowing me to share our experience and research on this, up until now, little explored subject. I am hopeful that our findings will enable movement toward treating floaters as a disease, and will open the conversation and spur a willingness among ophthalmologists to perform these safe, short, and highly effective procedures in an effort to help these unhappy patients,” said Dr. Sebag.
Lecturing in French, Dr. Sebag described the origin of vitreous (

whereas, in older individuals, floaters are caused by aging changes, which transform the vitreous body.
