Children Receive Expert Guidance on Health & Safety Thanks to Miller HomesBy: Miller Homes Leading housebuilder Miller Homes has dedicated time from its busy schedule to educate children on the dangers that are present in everyday life, including those associated with construction sites, as well as road safety awareness. “We felt that visiting the school closest to our Ollerton development was a great way of working with the children and the local community to remind them of the need to take care of their safety at all times,” said Steve McElroy sales director Miller Homes Yorkshire. “The children enjoyed a short talk, had a chance to dress up in the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that our construction workers have to wear, had colouring sheets to enjoy and were invited to design a Health and Safety poster in a competition where the winning design will be proudly displayed in our sales office at The Meadows development.” The campaign, sees all regions across the country working towards the education of children as to the dangers that building sites pose and to encourage safety awareness and will see all children given a fluorescent armband to increase their visibility on gloomy mornings and dark nights. Include dark nights and safety associated plus can mention the armband each child will be given. “The children were a delight to work with and came up with some great answers to the questions posed,” said Tony Haigh Safety, Health and Environment Manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “It’s really important that children are aware of our building site dangers and much of this knowledge they can then apply to other areas of their lives. Furthermore, I shall look forward to seeing their designs for our poster – good luck everyone!” “The children really enjoyed the talk by Tony and it was great to see this important subject being conveyed in such an appropriate way,” said Grant Worthington Headteacher Forest View Junior School. “This has really raised children’s awareness and hopefully they will be more aware of the dangers that they face in everyday situations.” The Meadows can be found at Beacon View, Ollerton, NG22 9WE. Where there is a selection of two bedroom apartments currently priced from £79,995 as well as a three bedroom semi-detached home priced at £134,950. More homes will be released early in the new year.
