PRLog -- Jimmy D. Clark has been selected to receive the 2015 Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award from the North Carolina Society of Engineers. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the NCSE, and it recognizes not only outstanding service to the engineering profession but also demonstrated leadership in the individual’s professional career and community.
Clark is a registered engineer and owner and president of Guy M. Turner Inc. Founded in 1924, the Greensboro-based company specializes in heavy rigging, heavy haul transportation, and crane services. Clark credits his education from N.C. State for enabling him to transform the previously small rigging operation to a diversified company.
Clark received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1974. A champion of engineering education, he established the Jimmy D. Clark Distinguished Professorship for the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at his alma mater in 2007.
Clark is the former Chair and current Vice Chair of the N.C. State Board of Visitors. He has remained active in a variety of university organizations, including the Engineering Foundation Board, Dean’s Circle, Student Aid Association Board, Alumni Association Board, and Peele Giving Society. He has also served on the Park Scholarship’
s Selection Committee.
The NCSE was founded in 1918 and is the oldest engineering Society in North Carolina. This award has been presented annually to selected winners since 1937. Clark joins a long list of accomplished leaders recognized for promoting the highest standards in the engineering profession in the state. Clark will receive his award in person at the NSCE’s annual winter meeting held at the RTP Sheraton Hotel February 26 and 27, 2016.
