Travel Startup Launching First ‘CoWorkcation’ in Sri Lanka

In February 2015, Shift_Space will be taking their inaugural group of remote workers to Sri Lanka for a two-month, all-inclusive ‘workcation’, complete with a private villa, coworking space, and personal chef.

MINNEAPOLIS - Nov. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Minneapolis, MN - November 21st, 2015 -- Shift_Space has selected a resort in the Asian island-country of Sri Lanka as the location for its inaugural ‘co-workation’ in February 2016.  Shift_Space defines a ‘co-workation’ as a group of employed people travelling together while working remotely and sharing resources as they go.

“We wanted to select a location that offered our participants a mix of culture, adventure, and the comfort required to crush their next project,” said Shift_Space co-founder Brandon Quittem - “and we also wanted to offer life-changing excursions both in our host country and in neighboring countries.”

Shift_Space has secured exclusive rights to a resort in the town of Bentota, Sri Lanka.  Resort features 15 private lakeside villas, multiple coworking areas, a pool, a restaurant, bar, and an upgraded high-speed WIFI network.  With the exception of the on-site Shift_Space Community Manager, the entire resort will be staffed by locals, including a chef and a driver.  Brandon added, “We want our members to have all the modern amenities required to be productive in their work while still being able to enjoy learning and experiencing new cultures.”

The program is available to people from all over the world, and is designed for those who have jobs that allow them to work from anywhere.  The group of location-independent workers making the inaugural trip will spend most of their time in Sri Lanka at the resort and in the nearby beach town, but they will also have the opportunity to take pre-arranged excursions to other Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Coworking spaces have been popping up all over the world, and Shift_Space is one of a handful of companies now offering the clientele of cowork spaces the opportunity to travel the world while still having access to a place to work.   Shift_Space’s biggest differentiator is in its full-service approach.  Most co-work travel companies offer access to workspaces but require participants to find their own accommodation. Participants are required to burn 3-5 days trying to find suitable accommodation which really hurts their productivity. Shift_Space offers accommodation, workspace, travel-arrangements, an onsite community manager, workshops, masterminds, and a local staff all for one fixed monthly price.

Shift_Space is still accepting applications at ShiftSpaces.com for spots in their February trip and has plans for future trips in Europe and South America.
