New Card Game 'EndQuotes' Launches Today On Kickstarter

EndQuotes, *a game for literate degenerates*, is the outrageous new card game where players mash up epic quotes

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, CA -- Mimesis Games launches a Kickstarter campaign today in which it proudly presents its flagship game "EndQuotes." EndQuotes is a new card game where players can mash up lines from movies, television, songs, books, and more. It's called "EndQuotes" because during the game, players “end” one quote with a phrase from another quote.

Like other games before it, EndQuotes is a tabletop card game that leverages the power of combinatorics. The humor in each round of gameplay comes from the exact combination of cards played, many of which include wildly different memes placed side by side.  Just a few hundred cards can generate millions of possible combinations.

Another unique aspect of EndQuotes is that the text on every card is a recycled meme. A spokesperson for Mimesis Games states, "First, we would find quotes that we liked, and then split them apart into questions and answers. For instance, take the proverb, 'Fortune favors the bold.'  We used '_____ favors the bold.' as a question card, and 'Fortune' as an answer card. The process is pretty straightforward, but it's really addictive once you get into it. You start seeing questions and answers everywhere."

Mimesis Games thinks that the "fun" in EndQuotes gameplay comes from the unique combination of cards in each round: "The quotes formed by the combinations of questions and answers can be ridiculous, witty, ironic, or provocative… all in the same round. During gameplay, players could finish a quote from Martin Luther King with a phrase by Madonna.”  One benefit of sourcing game material from quotations is that the possibilities for cards are endless.  Quotes can be taken from anyone in the world, throughout history, whether real or fictional. If their Kickstarter round goes well, Mimesis plans to print several themed expansion decks for EndQuotes.

Another feature unique to EndQuotes is the QR code printed on each card. Players can use any barcode or QR code scanner on their smartphones to see facts about the quotes and their authors.  Mimesis Games said, "We like the idea of having QR codes on every card. It's our tip of the hat to augmented reality, a chance for a physical card game like EndQuotes to cross the digital divide and blur the boundary between the virtual and the real."

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform where creators can showcase their projects and offer rewards to people who support the project. Mimesis Games is running a 30-day campaign on Kickstarter, which will end on December 18, 2015. They've set their Kickstarter goal amount at $4,000. Mimesis Games plans to use the proceeds from Kickstarter to help fund their first bulk production printing of EndQuotes.
