Follow on Google News | Oakland University receives $20,000 gift to benefit student veteransLaunched earlier this year, the textbook loan program encourages OU students, faculty and staff to donate gently used books in exchange for a t-shirt that reads “Support OUr Veterans.” The program got off to an auspicious start, with more than $1,500 in books being loaned to student veterans and their dependents. The $20,000 gift will fund the purchase of additional textbooks for the loan library and also support incentives to encourage program participation. “We started the textbook loan program as a way to engage the entire campus community in supporting our student veteran population,” OU has more than 300 student veterans on campus.
