New Article Reveals Proven Methods for Generating Leads and Sales With Masterful Headlines

Writing poor marketing headlines comes with a high price: lower open rates, fewer leads, and fewer sales. B2B technical copywriter Colm O'Regan reveals how nanotechnology marketers can boost leads and sales by writing attention-grabbing headlines.

Nov. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- A new article by B2B technical copywriter Colm O'Regan reveals how nanotechnology marketing professionals can generate more leads and sales by writing powerful headlines.

It’s no exaggeration when direct response copywriters say a great headline is the number one requirement for a solid marketing piece. It’s THE most important part of your copy.

Why?

Because, as the late John Caples so eloquently put it:

“If the headline of an advertisement is poor, the best copywriters in the world cannot write copy that will sell the product. Because if the headline is poor, the copy will not be read”.

And if the copy isn’t read then you don’t generate leads or make sales.

It’s that simple.

However, O'Regan says that most nanotechnology firms mess this up by trying to be too creative with their headlines or not learning what works and what doesn’t.

He adds "an unfortunate habit of many marketers is that they try and come up with the most creative headline they can. They do this using what's known as a 'teaser' headline, in an attempt to tease the reader into reading the rest of their copy."

The problem with this is a teaser headline is essentially a bet.

You’re betting on the reader opening the rest of your piece because the headline is so intriguing and creative.

Instead, O'Regan suggests using a benefit headline.

As the name suggests, a benefit headline implies that the reader will get a specific benefit from reading the copy. It's a proven and time-tested formula that works great when marketing high-tech solutions.

The benefit might be to save time, improve productivity, save money, get things done faster, comply with regulations more easily, improve sales, get the edge on the competition etc.

O'Regan concludes, "Whatever way you look at it, learning how to craft magnetic headlines that gets your marketing opened and read is one of the most important skills you can develop. So do yourself a favour and stick to writing benefit headlines. A proven formula will always work better than misdirected creativity."
