AYLESBURY, U.K. - Nov. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- State-of-the art software that can transform an investigation by collecting, storing and analysing a raft of communications data was presented to UK police officers this week for the first time.

Pen-Link provides police, law enforcement and Intelligence agencies with a rapid and efficient way of collecting, storing, and analysing telephonic and IP-based communications.

Already used by thousands of officers across the world in major investigations including 9/11 in the US, PenLink can help manage the raft of data including phone calls, text messages, emails and social media that are now a routine part of today's investigations.

Equipped with Pen-Link's powerful analytical suite, analysts are able to use communications data to reveal hidden patterns, link suspects within and between cases, determine patterns of life, identify criminal communication networks, ascertain suspects' movements through phone and IP geo-locations, and develop leads that might otherwise go unnoticed.

It was presented this week to an audience of UK police and law enforcers at a major crime workshop by Patrick Runyan, Business Development Manager, Global Solutions Group whol addressed the current challenges investigators face in managing so called 'Big Data' and provided case studies and examples of how the software is making a real difference to the efficiency and effectiveness of the investigation process across the world.

An invited audience of frontline investigators and analysts from major UK forces as well as representatives from the College of Policing, military, industry and academia attended the one-day event and were offered the opportunity to trial the software in their respective organisations.

"Collecting, processing, and analysing Big Data are crucial components of today's investigations," explained Mr Runyan.

"Phone calls, text messages, emails, and social media play increasingly critical roles in the personal and professional communications of everyday citizens. Criminals are no less shrewd in their use of these technologies and are becoming increasingly adept at using sophisticated communications to support their illegal activities."

He continued: "Many crimes can be tied to multiple communication sources, making it imperative for investigators and analysts to be able to examine and understand communications data quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly.  Even so, communications data sets that are ever-increasing in size and complexity, combined with decreasing workforces, can make it difficult for law enforcement agencies to exploit such data to full advantage."

Pen-Link software helps drill down through Big Data by providing law enforcement investigators and analysts the ability to process, analyse, and synthesize Call Detail Records (CDRs), social Media transactions, and historical IP Sessions obtained from telephone, social network, and IP service providers.

Pen-Link's powerful database combined with automated processes, integrated reporting, quick filters, and built-in graphical analyses can save analysts hundreds of hours, thereby quickly multiplying the work force of any organisation. Pen-Link technologies benefit not only investigators and analysts, but also prosecutors, providing tools for logical and efficient organization and presentation of evidence during court proceedings. They are used in a wide variety of investigations, including illegal narcotics, anti-terrorism, homicide, kidnapping, human trafficking, and crimes against children.
