BUSINESS NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR THE 2016 NAWBO SJ BEYOND THE GLASS CEILING AWARDS

MARLTON, NJ (November 16, 2015) – The National Association of Women Business Owners, South Jersey Chapter, (NAWBO SJ) is excited to announce that they are now accepting nominations for their 13th Annual Beyond The Glass Ceiling Awards Gala & Ceremony. These awards recognize and honor outstanding individuals in the community who have demonstrated leadership roles in their professions, have been active in their communities and have served as mentors and role models for women business owners and women in business. The Glass Ceiling Awards Gala will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2015 and attracts approximately 300 business owners and professionals from the South Jersey region. Nominations are due by December 1, 2015 and may be submitted to info@nawbosouthjersey.org.

The nomination categories are:

·         Trailblazer of the Year
First to explore, develop or research a new product, service, trade, medicine, technique, venture, etc. Someone who is the first to lead.

·         Heroine Award
Someone who is responsible for a heroic act in business, medicine, philanthropy, etc.

·         Legislator of the Year
A policy-maker who is creating inspiring laws or policies that benefit women business owners.

·         Media Advocate of the Year
A news outlet who has advocated on behalf of women business owners in the SJ community.

·         Woman Business Owner of the Year
A successful, business owner or entrepreneur who has had an impact on the SJ community.

·         Community Advocate of the Year
Someone who is an advocate of the SJ community.

·         Company of the Year
A company (small, mid-size or large) that has exhibited significant growth or has made significant impact on the SJ community.

·         Environmental Advocate of the Year
A company or individual who has made significant strides toward improving the environment, or environmental policy.

·         Under 40 Business Woman of the Year
An individual who is a rising star in her community, under the age of 40.

·         Women’s Advocate of the Year
Someone who has successfully advocated on behalf of women and/or women in business.

·         NAWBO SJ Nova
A NAWBO member who is a “rising star” in her field.

·         NAWBO SJ Chapter Champion
A NAWBO member who has “championed” our chapter and supported our growth and mission.

Eligibility Requirements for Nomination & Guidelines:

·         Nominees must be a resident or work within the South Jersey region and must be able to accept the award in-person on the evening of the gala.

·         Nominees must be widely recognized as extraordinarily successful in their field.

·         Nominees must have career and work effectiveness that can be documented.

·         Nominees must have had positive influence on others in their field and beyond.

To nominate an individual or company, please submit the names of individuals or companies, the reason for the nomination, the company the nominee is connected to if an individual, and contact information (name, email, phone number) of nominee. Submit all to info@nawbosouthjersey.org by December 1, 2015.

In addition to these awards, the Beyond The Glass Ceiling Gala features a keynote address from a prominent individual who has made significant contributions to women and women business owners. Last year’s keynote speaker was Pamela Slim, award-winning author, speaker and business consultant, who spoke about the tools necessary to have a meaningful career in today’s less stable and more diverse work world. This year’s keynote speaker will be announced soon. The event also includes a silent auction, cocktails, dinner and dessert.
