Senator Al Franken visits Rochester farmer that went solar with MN based company

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Nov. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- – On Saturday, November 14, U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) will visit a Rochester-area livestock farm to highlight a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) solar project that helps offset the operation’s energy needs.  Sen. Franken helped write the Energy Section of the 2014 Farm Bill, which reauthorized the REAP program to help farmers, ranchers, and rural businesses invest in renewable energy or energy efficiency projects.

At 10 a.m., he will visit the Jerome and Julie Walch farm, which received a federal REAP grant last year to install a solar system that helps power their livestock operation.  During the visit, Sen. Franken will tour the operation and discuss the ongoing benefits the REAP project provides.  There will be a short media availability at approximately 10:45 a.m.
