PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Recently, the organization announced a Saturday, November 28th, 2015 date for their 6th annual race to the excitement of participants and spectators alike.

Thanksgiving is often accused of being the cause behind many people putting on extra holiday pounds.  What if there were a fun way to burn some of these pounds off, while helping a good cause?  Thanks to the very well respected Phoenixville Jaycees, in the extended Phoenixville, PA area there certainly is.  The Phoenixville Jaycees recently announced the 6th Annual Burn off the Bird 5K and Walk will be held on Saturday, November 28th, 2015 and all proceeds raised will be going to help three very deserving area non-profit organizations; HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership), Operation Home Front and the Phoenixville Jaycees Foundation.

“The Phoenixville Jaycees are excited to host the 6th Annual Burn Off the Bird 5K and Walk,” commented Peter Urscheler, President of the Phoenixville Jaycees.  “This has quickly become a Thanksgiving Tradition for many families and we are honored to donate the proceeds of this year’s event to HOBY's youth leadership initiative, Operation Home front and Phoenixville Jaycees Foundation. Run, Walk or Gobble, we can't wait to see you there.”

According to Urscheler, the course is a scenic 3.1 mile loop through Phoenixville, beginning and ending near Franklin Commons on Franklin Avenue.   The 2015 race has been upgraded with a finish line featuring electronic timing provided by Second Wind Race Timing.

HOBY is a non-profit organization, with a mission to inspire and develop a global community of youth and volunteers dedicated to a life of leadership, service and innovation.

Operation Homefront is a non-profit organization, which provides short-term and critical assistance, long term stability, and ongoing family support to the families of our Service Members and Wounded Warriors.
