Proceeds of the production “Miami Nights” will be dedicated to the New Light Foundation’s Program to teach art and theatre to the children in Homeless Shelters. How Miami Nights came to be - New Light Theatre’s Resident Playwright, Artist and Director, Wendy White envisioned a theatre production capturing the essence of life in Miami, and invited South Florida playwrights, Casey Dressler, Vanessa Garcia, Matthew Para and Marla E. Schwartz to introduce their comedic plays resulting in a hilarious night of theatre. States Wendy White; “Life in Miami as an artist and playwright is invigorating, as we are located in one of the most creative epicenters on the planet! Performing these plays right before Art Basel adds to the excitement.” Eleven original mini plays will be performed by talented cast members: Jair Bula, Gema Calero, Robert Hernandez, Luis Navarro, Alejandro Nunez-Mazzieri, Joanna Orrego, Laura Posse and Jessica Pusceddu. 1) “The Unusual Suspect…” by Matthew Para 2) “Hair” by Wendy White 3) “Bus from Miami” by Wendy White 4) “On the Side’ by Casey Dressler 5) “A Famous Housewife” by Marla E. Schwartz 11) “Love Wins” by Wendy White Wendy White has written over 135 one-act plays and was a resident playwright, curator and director at the Kraine Theater and the Expanded Arts Theater in the East Village of New York City from 1984 to 2001. Her off-Broadway productions are the basis for her venue at the New Light Theatre in Miami. She produced her one woman show; The Jewish Nun to sold-out audiences in Off-Broadway’ Wendy is President of the New Light Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) 3 non-profit public foundation whose mission is to provide art and cultural outreach through education.
