Miami Nights! A Hilarious Night of Comedy Miami Style!

MIAMI - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- The New Light Theatre is proud to announce its brand new production “Miami Nights!” – capturing the flavor and life of Miami in a series of short shorts!

Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, 2015 - Cocktails at 7 pm, Show starts at 8 pm

Proceeds of the production “Miami Nights” will be dedicated to the New Light Foundation’s Program to teach art and theatre to the children in Homeless Shelters.

How Miami Nights came to be - New Light Theatre’s Resident Playwright, Artist and Director, Wendy White envisioned a theatre production capturing the essence of life in Miami, and invited South Florida playwrights, Casey Dressler, Vanessa Garcia, Matthew Para and Marla E. Schwartz to introduce their comedic plays resulting in a hilarious night of theatre.  States Wendy White; “Life in Miami as an artist and playwright is invigorating, as we are located in one of the most creative epicenters on the planet!  Performing these plays right before Art Basel adds to the excitement.”

Eleven original mini plays will be performed by talented cast members: Jair Bula, Gema Calero, Robert Hernandez, Luis Navarro, Alejandro Nunez-Mazzieri, Joanna Orrego, Laura Posse and Jessica Pusceddu.

Wendy White has written over 135 one-act plays and was a resident playwright, curator and director at the Kraine Theater and the Expanded Arts Theater in the East Village of New York City from 1984 to 2001. Her off-Broadway productions are the basis for her venue at the New Light Theatre in Miami. She produced her one woman show; The Jewish Nun to sold-out audiences in Off-Broadway’s 59e59 Theatre and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Her theatre company has performed in Amsterdam, Paris, Miami, Los Angeles and New York City.

Wendy is President of the New Light Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) 3 non-profit public foundation whose mission is to provide art and cultural outreach through education.  In 2009, the New Light Foundation represented the United States as Art Ambassadors of the 1-2-3 Kinderlachen e.V. foundation of Rottenburg, Germany by hosting the international “Global Gallery” project (www.123kinderlachen.org (http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.123kinde...)). During the course of this important project, the “world’s biggest canvas” emerged; painted by children – transcending all borders and conflicts.
