Follow on Google News | USMEA and SEMA Receives Proclamation from City of Las Vegas MayorBy: USMEA WHEREAS; The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) started from humble roots at Dodgers Stadium in 1967; and WHEREAS; Since 1967 the annual SEMA show has drawn the automotive specialty equipment industry’s brightest minds and hottest products together; and WHEREAS; Today SEMA has become one of the largest automotive trade shows on the planet with more than 130,000 attendees; and WHEREAS; The SEMA show is the largest annual gathering of small businesses in America bringing over 1500 custom vehicles; and WHEREAS; The United States Military Educators Association (USMEA) works in collaboration with numerous military and veteran service organizations to serve those who served us globally; and WHEREAS; The USMEA as a combined group of military educators from vocational schools, community colleges, and universities work to provide quality education in a structured environment; WHEREAS; Students from USMEA member school WyoTech restored a military tribute vehicle from the ground up as a demonstration of both vocational training and personal skill, along with the assistance of Richard Wood Kustoms on the display at SEMA; and WHEREAS; SEMA and USMEA have incorporated this military tribute vehicle and the students and veterans who created it into the 2015 show; and THEREFORE; we the Mayor and City Council of the City of Las Vegas, do hereby proclaim November 3, 2015, as “SEMA and USMEA SALUTE MILITARY HEROES DAY” In the City of Las Vegas and call upon all residents to celebrate the achievements of USMEA Veterans in the automotive trades.
