Comedy Web Series, Disillusioned, Appears Nov. 6th…and Breaks New Ground

Life Isn’t Always Magical...But it IS Funny! New Show Stars Award-Winning Magician Matt Marcy
Nov. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES -- NOV 6, 2015 -- Season one of a groundbreaking, new comedy web series about the life of a struggling magician premieres Nov. 6 on and on YouTube.

Disillusioned explores the trials and tribulations of fictional magician Matt Matisse as he struggles to find love, success and an art form that doesn’t get any. While each episode features amazing sleight-of-hand, don’t expect a magic show. As Seinfeld was about the everyday life of a stand-up comedian, Disillusioned reveals the everyday life of a magician...and all that entails.

Disillusioned was created by and stars real-life magician Matt Marcy, an award-winning performer who was featured on the last three seasons of Masters of Illusion on the CW Network and has performed more than 1,000 shows at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. The series is directed by Shilpi Roy, creator of the award-winning web series Hipsterhood.

“Magicians have typically been portrayed as over-the-top stereotypes in comedies,” Marcy says, “but we wanted to show the world of magic in a way never before seen.” Adds Roy, “I was thrilled to take Disillusioned on as my next web series. Matt is such an incredible magician and the series is hilarious.”

In the debut season of Disillusioned, Matisse is shouted down by a 6-year-old while making balloon animals; forced to hire day laborers to fill an audience; and must convince his gorgeous best friend to be his magic assistant. Spoiler: She agrees, as long as her parents don’t find out. “They still think I’m a stripper and I really don’t want to disappoint them,” she confides.

Disillusioned also stars Marianne Chambers (Sullivan and Son, Two and a Half Men, The Protector) and Ben Zelevansky (The Goldbergs, Silicon Valley, True Blood) and features such notable guest stars as Justin Willman (Cupcake Wars), Joanna Sotomura (Emma Approved), Bonnie Gordon (ABC’s The Quest) and Natalia Cigliuti(The Glades).
