LITCHFIELD, Conn. - Oct. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Narwhals are the northernmost whale on the planet and the one most threatened by global warming. Its seven-foot long spiral tusk - which helped to spawn the unicorn myth and which has caused a heated disagreement about its purpose - has created a genuine sense of wonder and mythology about this amazing animal. Full of science, story and stunning images, Narwhals: Arctic Whales in a Melting World engages readers in an exciting examination of the many questions and curiosities that surround the sea unicorn.

Todd McLeish has been writing about wildlife and environmental issues for more than 20 years. While earning degrees in communications at Ithaca College and Emerson College, he developed a passion for wildlife, natural history and environmental protection. He immersed himself in the natural world by volunteering to help biologists with their wildlife research and wrote about these experiences. He has written more than 100 magazine and newspaper articles and also works as a science writer and publicist for the University of Rhode Island. He is an expert birder, and frequently leads natural history walks and talks on endangered species. His website is toddmcleish.com.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the event. The author will provide books for signing and for purchase. All Oliver Wolcott Library events are free and open to the public. Space is limited.
