By: Waterbury Regional Chamber With support from the Waterbury Board of Education, Granville Academy and the Smaller Manufacturers Association (SMA), more than 2,000 middle and high school students from throughout the Greater Waterbury region will attend the EXPO to directly interact with local area manufacturing and technology executives and to view exhibits and demonstrations to learn about career opportunities through STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. A featured exhibitor and presenter at the 2015 EXPO will be SkyVue LLC of New Jersey, an aerial video production company that uses drones they will demonstrate during the event. Rich DuPont, Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Manufacturing Council Chairman, stated, “Every year this EXPO expands because it is notably successful in providing middle and high school students unique opportunities to talk directly with local manufacturing and technology firms and to learn about high earning career opportunities in these exciting and expanding fields.” The EXPO will feature interactive manufacturing and technology company exhibits and demonstrations to highlight the direct connection between STEM and manufacturing and technology careers. Waterbury Regional Chamber President and CEO Lynn Ward commented, “This is the fifth annual STEM/Advanced Manufacturing & Technology EXPO that our Manufacturing Council has coordinated. Each year there has been a steady growth in both student and vendor participation. This year it has been expanded to welcome the anticipated more than 2,000 students. It’s very encouraging to see so many young boys and girls genuinely interested in learning about manufacturing and technology careers.
