Barlow Respiratory Hospital Welcomes New Group Board Members
Earl E. Gales,Jr. has been an advisor to two U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents and has more than thirty-five years of experience in Urban Design, Planning and Construction Management. Major projects include Los Angeles Metro Rail/General Engineering Consultant; Eastside Transit Project; High Speed Rail System in California; LA Community College District; City Hall Seismic Rehabilitation;
He has co-authored three books and is the author of a book on African art and architecture. He has written numerous articles on topics including multi-family housing development, transportation policy and design, correctional facilities, and the delivery of educational planning and design.
He is a Board Member of Cedars-Sinai Hospital Board/Sports Spectacular, UCLA/Graduate School of Arts and Architecture, UCLA Board of Counselors, Loyola Marymount University Engineering School, African American Unity Center, and Vermont Village Community Development Corp. He holds a B.S. degree in Urban Planning/Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona University and an M.A. in Architecture and Urban Design from UCLA.
Daniel Weinstein has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors for nearly 35 years. Early in his career, he worked for former California Attorney General John Van de Kamp as labor relations liaison. Dan also worked for State Controller Gray Davis, advising on labor related matters including job creation within the State of California. He was later actively involved in the labor movement. As Regional Political Director for the United Food & Commercial Workers, Mr. Weinstein created a voter registration program in a joint effort with the major grocery chains and worked closely with the union on many non-political projects including charitable endeavors.
Dan left government service to pursue a career in private equity and launched a boutique investment firm that raised capital from institutional investors throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Mr. Weinstein has long been actively involved in community affairs and philanthropic endeavors. He served as an appointee of Assembly Speaker Robert Hertzberg to the California Coastal Commission and was later appointed by Governor Davis as a Trustee to the California State University System and served on many other boards including The Los Angeles Sports Academy, Coro Foundation, Century Housing, and The Los Angeles Business Council.
Barlow Respiratory Hospital is a not-for-profit, long-term acute-care (LTAC) hospital, one of the nation's top healthcare providers for medically fragile patients with respiratory and other complex illnesses.
