Kent State University Executive MBA Alumna Awarded Akron Urban League’s Women of Power Award

Oct. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Kent State’s College of Business Administration Executive MBA Alumna, Veronica Cook-Euell, has been awarded Akron Urban League’s Women of Power Award.

The Women of Power Award is awarded to women who have made a difference in the organizations at which they work and the community at-large. Award nominees are committed to making a difference and giving back, and can be at any level in their careers or any age. “These women give their very best every day for the betterment of the Greater Akron Community,” said Fred Wright, president and chief executive officer of the Akron League. “They are an exceptional class of women.”

Cook-Euell currently serves as Kent State University’s Supplier Diversity Program Manager. She has past experience in program management at Euell Consulting Group LLC and the Minority Business Accelerator. Additionally, she is a former board member of the Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio. During her career at Kent State University, Cook-Euell has been awarded the President’s Excellence Award, acknowledging her exceptional performance while advancing the goals of the university.

“I am honored, humbled and appreciative, and will use this award as a platform to broaden my commitment to Kent State and the surrounding community,” said Cook-Euell. “There are so many needs that can be addressed by tapping into the ‘power’ we all have. I will strive to empower others to be successful as well.”

“Veronica exemplifies the type of hardworking and well-rounded professional the Executive MBA program strives to create,” said Laurie Walker, Executive MBA program director at the College of Business Administration. “We are proud to call her an alumna and see her be recognized by Akron Urban League.”

The Akron Urban League is a non-profit social service agency that strives to improve the quality of life of citizens, particularly African Americans, in Summit County through self-reliance and social empowerment. Founded in 1925, The Akron Urban League has since sought to eliminate racial discrimination through the use of four main goals: direct services, research, advocacy and building bridges. As an affiliate of the National Urban League, the Akron Urban League reaches national audiences and is a strong organization that is frequently replicated across the country.

The 2015 Women of Power will be honored at the Fifth Annual Women of Power Luncheon in Akron on Nov. 5th, 2015.
