SAN MATEO, Calif. - Oct. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- SOME SAY THE SCARIEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR IS HALLOWEEN...

OH NO...THE SCARIEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR MIGHT WELL BE ELECTION NIGHT...

...AND AT LEAST YOU CAN VENT SOME OF YOUR FRUSTRATIONS ABOUT POLITICS WITH A SONG AND A POEM CALLED "RUN FOR OFFICE"

The poem is included at the end of this article. You can hear a free clip of the song at www.barrows.com/music.html

"Election day is November 3rd, and in advance of casting your ballot and waiting for the returns to come in, you might want to vent some of your frustrations about the political system by treating yourself to a poem and a song called 'Run For Office,'" says Robert Barrows of San Mateo, California.

Barrows is the author of a poem called "Run For Office" and he co-wrote the song version of "Run For Office" with a musician named Gary Warren.

Barrows also ran for office. He ran for Congress in the Democratic Primaries in the 12th Congressional District in California in 2006 and 2008. He lost both times. "Run For Office" got some interesting mentions in some of the press coverage about his campaigns.

'"Run For Office" is a satire about power, politics, sex, lies, money and greed...all the stuff that politics is made of. The people will love this song and poem, politicians will hate it," says Barrows.

You can see the poem version of "Run For Office" at the end of this press release. You can hear a free clip of the song version of "Run For Office" at www.barrows.com/music.html. There is also a link on that page where you can download the song version of "Run For Office" for 99 cents on iTunes.

There is also another song that Barrows co-wrote with Gary Warren. That song is a song about money called "Big Bucks." "Whenever you hear a politician talking about income inequality after they've just attended a $50,000 a plate fundraising dinner, and whenever you hear about an athlete getting a mega million dollar deal just for playing basesball, and whenever you hear about a Chief Executive getting millions of dollars in a severance deal just for getting fired...at least you can vent some of your frustrations about being on the wrong side of income inequality with a song about money called 'Big Bucks."

"If money is indeed the root of all evil, you're going to love a song called 'Big Bucks,'" says Barrows.

You can hear a free clip of "Big Bucks" at www.barrows.com/music.html and there is a link on that page where you can download the song for 99 cents on iTunes.

Another "message" poem that Barrows wrote is called "It used to be made in America." It used to be made in America is about the loss of jobs and the consequences of the outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries. You can see the poem online at www.itusedtobemadeinamerica.com and also at www.madeinusa.us.com.

"Several of the verses in the poem 'It used to be made in America' could also become very powerful lyrics for some country and hip-hop songs," says Barrows, and he also has plans for developing the website into a series of moneymaking web-based directories about manufacturing, jobs and products that would be made in America. HERE IS THE POEM VERSION OF "RUN FOR OFFICE."

"RUN FOR OFFICE"

Copyright 1985, Robert M. Barrows

"Out of work? Need a job? Run for office!

Big debts, lots of sex? Run For Office!

Need prestige? Run for office!

Get elected! Get respected!

You even get yourself protected!

Give unto Caesar that which is his.

Get me Redford! Get me Liz!

I'm going to make it really big...

I'm going to run for office!

All the money you need...

The pleasures of power and greed...

Got to start planting the seed...

I'm going to run for office!

Get elected! Get respected!

Got to get myself selected!

My future in bliss!

I'll promise you that...

I'll promise you this!

...With this big warm smile,

hey, I can't miss!

There's nothing to lose,

and I could actually win!

A couple of lies,

hey, that's not like a sin?

Which race is open? I'm ready to go!

I'll toss my hat in

and here comes the dough!

Where do I stand?

It doesn't matter

I'm shaking everyone's hand!

Oh what a feeling!

I'm in command!

Hey, nice to meet you!

I'm running for office!

Your goals are my goals!

Vote for me! I'm your man!

What are my plans?

I'll show you when I get in office!"

"The lyrics to the song version of 'Run For Office' are even more biting than the poem," says Barrows.
