HOUSTON - Oct. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- HOUSTON - Oct. 27, 2015 - Celebs Give Back, a national nonprofit that connects powerhouse celebrities, community leaders and business owners together to make a difference in the community, is making its way to Houston. The nonprofit, founded in Atlanta, is hosting an official launch party to celebrate the opening of its Houston chapter, from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Oct. 29 at Belvedere, 1131 Uptown Park Blvd. in Houston.

Founder Aniah Denise planted the seeds for the nonprofit in 2011 after coordinating a community outreach initiative called "Hope for the Holidays" to provide toys to victims of Hurricane Irene and the Alabama tornadoes. Four years later, the 501(c)3 organization has grown to launch chapters in Georgia, Alabama, California and is now expanding to Texas. Through the organization, celebrities, sports figures, and influential business owners with a heart to give back have the opportunity to do so through a range of causes from mentoring programs to toy drives to children's hospital and nursing home visits.

The night's honorees include both celebrities and community leaders. Celebrity award winners include: The Original Houston Texan, former NFL player and sports analyst, Chester Pitts, and NFL player, Amobi Okoye, both of whom operate their own charitable foundations. Community honorees include: Erin O'Keefe, "Great Day Houston" associate producer; Darian Ward, City of Houston press secretary and "Press Pass to the City" show host; and Romelia Mata, U.S. House of Representatives congressional staffer and president of Alianza Hispana - all individuals who have a strong track record for giving back to the community.

During the launch party, La'Torria Lemon, CGB Houston president, will announce the nonprofit's presence in the Houston area, share its mission, and extend an invitation to individuals interested in joining forces to support community outreach initiatives. A debut of the organization's PSA commercial produced by the City of Houston featuring notable guest appearances also will air.

"I am so very honored to introduce the city of Houston and surrounding areas to our amazing organization. We are excited to serve the community, create partnerships, and implement many initiatives in the near future," said Lemon.

CGB board members include, La'Torria Lemon, president; Trinelle Thomas, vice president; Ruby Glass, treasurer; Sarni Jaye, director of communications & public affairs; Britney Turner, community relations director; Ashley Brooks, event coordinator, and Michelle Whitehead, liaison. Event sponsors include: Consuela's Kitchen, B. McKinzy Photography, DJ Samm, and Belvedere Lounge.

The event is free to the public and will feature the sounds of DJ Young Samm along with several surprise guests and a catered food selection and full cash bar. Donations, in support of the nonprofit, are welcomed.
