-- Paul Smithyman is the Production Manager at Lincoln Center Theatre and overlooks all productions at LCT's Vivian Beaumont Theatre and Mitzi Newhouse Theatre and has done so since 1995, most recently working on LCT's acclaimed production of The King & I.
When he's not overlooking LCT's production team, he can be found overlooking New York's Nightmare Horror Show currently playing downtown at the Flamobayan Theatre, part of the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center until Halloween night, October 31st. The Nightmare Horror Show consists of 7 scary themed staged short plays, some are interactive and some are theatre pieces but all have scary Halloween themes, guaranteed to leave a chill down your spine.
Mr Smithyman has even contributed as a writer to the festival, penning a short piece entitled "EDDIE" inspired by the morbid mind of infamous serial killer Ed Gein. Eddie is simple Wisconsin fella, keeping the lamp lit on the family homestead, working hard in the Gein Summer Kitchen, creating all kinds of American artifacts. In 1954 America’s first high sensation serial killer, ED GEIN, was arrested following the murder of respected towns-woman. Following the arrest the local police searched the Gein residence and were horrified by what they found in Eddies Summer Kitchen. Eddie is a new play exploring the internal dialogue of a serial killer. ‘EDDIE’ takes you right inside the venom-soaked heart and mind of the man who inspired ‘Psycho’, ‘Leatherface’
and ‘Buffalo Bill’. Featuring one of the most amazing puppets you will ever seeThe other 6 shows follow similar themes.
And now, Paul Smithyman will go into further detail about the Nightmare Horror Show as well as his illustrious career at Lincoln Center tonight on The Sissy Gamache Show, 7:30pm EST on MNN (Manhattan Neighborhood Network) Channel 56 Time Warner Cable Manhattan and streamed LIVE on mnn.com and on thesissygamacheshow.com
