Kepley Biosystems Incorporated Selected as Finalist for 2015 NC Tech Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Kepley Biosystems Incorporated (KBI) today announced it has been selected as a finalist for the NC Tech Awards Energy and Environment award.  The NC Tech Awards is North Carolina's only statewide technology awards program, recognizing companies and individuals who have characterized excellence, innovation and leadership, presented by the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA).

Kepley Biosystems Incorporated formed in 2013 to research, develop, manufacture, and distribute a patent-pending, synthetic crustacean bait that improves upon the function and performance of established methods. The synthetic crustacean bait will eliminate the use of “bait” fish to attract and trap lobster and crab in the fishing industry.  Crustacean traps are typically baited using a vital link in the food chain; these fish are also called forage fish, small schooling fish routinely caught using gill nets. Kepley Biosystem’s mission is to serve the crustacean fishing industry (and the global community) by providing high quality, affordable synthetic bait as an alternative to forage fish consumption and practices.

“The NC Tech Awards recognize and honor the best of innovators and innovations,” said Brooks Raiford, President and CEO, NCTA. “As a finalist in this year’s awards, Kepley Biosystems Incorporated has distinguished itself as one of the state’s technology leaders.”

A review committee comprised of non-profit, media, education, and technology leaders representing various regions of the state selected this year’s finalists. The awards process culminates with the NC Tech Awards Gala on November 12, 2015 at the Raleigh Convention Center where nearly 800 leaders from across the state will gather to celebrate the tech sector and honor the winners and finalists in each category.

“Kepley Biosystems Incorporated is honored to be recognized by the North Carolina Technology Association as one of NC’s most innovative technologies in Environment and Energy. This is a prestigious honor for everyone at KBI, and we want to thank our supporters and collaborators for contributing to our incredible success.” Anthony L. Dellinger, PhD, President of KBI and University of North Carolina’s Entrepreneur of the Year, 2015.
