Organize your website in a traditional way if you are in a traditional, classic business. Some websites are very creative because they are in a very creative business. So the ‘medium is the message.’ If you have a very creative website catering to traditional, classic customers, people will feel you are out of touch.

The quality of your steak is what will appeal to customers who are consumers like you, shopping for quality or value or discount. A media meal has these ingredients, words, images and video, the way a meal is made up of meat, soup and other stuff. It is not surprising to cook a meal your customers do not want to eat, too fancy a meal or too cheap of a meal or too creative of a meal. You want your customers to recognize the ingredients and the meal you are known for because it is not their fault if they feel you are something else, it is actually your responsibility to accurately promote what you are.

Starting with words, it is the base of your meal like flour or grain or meat. Do you have other stuff in the flour, like dirt, so that eating the meal, people are grinding their teeth on dirt? Is your meat authentic - are testimonials real and can be backed up? Is it high quality testimonials like AAA grade steak or not high quality testimonials, like AA grade steak only. You have to use what you have or you will be caught dishonest.

Each page of your website is like a one-pager (or less) about a topic. Your homepage is like store-front, your greeter and your displays all at once. Other pages like your Contact Us page would be less than a one-pager. The topic written about under each page coincides with the title of your page and your page title coincide with the link people see in your menu bar.

This kind of website helps your customers help themselves to find what they need without having to call someone over.

When you have this, then you can build exposure any way you want, without feeling inadequate.You can use search engine advertising to promote your business, you can ask friends to share your website and other businesses to link to you as a partner. If Justin Bieber says you’re great then you lucked out, but if you have to pay him it would cost a lot. What if you paid less to get on a blog that mentioned Justin Bieber? You just lost your way.
